White Oak Continues to be a Hardwood in Demand

White Oak luimber Leitchfield bundleWhite oak is one of the most popular hardwoods requested from our customers. It is a common wood for some of the finest flooring, cabinet and furniture produced today.  We find that much of our white oak is often harvested in the Appalachian region of the United States which ranges from the foothills of southern New England all the way down to the mountains of Tennessee. White oak from this region is world renowned for its strength, durability and consistency. Some will tell you that the unique combination of soil properties, regional climate and overall growing conditions in this region of North America produces the highest quality hardwoods around.

American Lumber is fortunate to own multiple sawmills and dry kilns in this area. When needed we can also access additional supply from several other reputable hardwood suppliers in the region. Access to this type of supply enables us to be a trusted provider of hardwoods for many customers who require a regular and consistent supply of quality white oak products.  Over the years we have also developed special sorting capabilities that enable us to create custom grades of white oak for our customers that help them better match the lumber they use with their manufacturing processes.  These special white oak custom lumber grades include comsel products that maximize the usable surface area of each board, a super common product that offers above average widths and most recently a special narrow prime grade that has been well received by hardwood flooring manufactures and cabinet makers in the United States and Europe.  Many of these products are manufactured from lumber from eastern Kentucky and the western Virginia area and processed at our Cove City North Carolina yard which located in close proximity to international shipping ports.
