World markets expect American Lumber to produce the finest North American hardwoods available.
That's a big responsibility, but American and its Green Diamond Brand have earned that expectation through quality control excellence and years of consistency in producing millions of board feet of superior hardwoods.
Bundle after bundle, American customers know they're getting the very best Red and White Oak, Ash, Cherry, Poplar, Maple and Walnut.
Our quality begins at our factory concentration yards, where only the very best raw material is accepted. Here, another shipment of fresh-sawn Northern Appalachian Red Oak has arrived...
...To briefly join other loads in the green lumber holding area before moving on to the initial American Lumber quality inspection by our NHLA-trained inspection staff.
To produce a superior grade of lumber, American chooses to exceed NHLA quality standards. Those standards are met, but our inspectors look even closer, minimizing bark, wane, stain, unsound knots and other appearance defects.
To ensure flat, warp-free drying of their hardwoods, American sticks all lumber every foot. In addition, the lumber is sealed with wax to prevent end checking.
All American Lumber orders are carefully and properly dried with each bundle receiving special treatment and close monitoring. Some orders call for air drying...
...While others require controlled seasoning in predryers where the temperature and humidity is monitored 24 hours a day. Whatever the drying method, our constant attention ensures that moisture is evenly reduced before entering the kilns...
...So that our kiln-dried lumber is straight, flat and maximum yield.
Here the lumber is inspected yet again. Is the lumber perfectly straight and flat? Did the wax seal prevent end checking? Does it meet American Lumber grade standards?
Once our inspectors are satisfied, and the answer to all our quality questions is "Yes, this is our best," the lumber has finally earned the American Lumber brand. Your continued satisfaction is our constant concern, so we take every step to ensure that only the very best hardwoods can be called "American Lumber."
